Shiatsu

Shiatsu is an oriental style of osteopathic physiotherapy, based on traditional Chinese medicine, which enhances our body's natural ability to heal and re-balance itself. As well as helping to maintain health, it can also be used in the treatment of a wide variety of problems, particularly those resulting from stress.
With over 20 years experience Mark has become extremely sensitive to where your body requires healing. A combination of gentle and deep pressure is used to ease away aches or pains and the overall experience is deeply relaxing, rejuvenating, revitalising and restorative.

Conditions Shiatsu may help with:
Neck, shoulder & back issues
Physical aches and pains (joints, etc.)
Postural problems (scoliosis, etc.)
RSI & accident/trauma injuries
High blood pressure (Hypertension)
Fatigue, Depression, Anxiety, Anger
Insomnia, Headaches & Migraines
Menstrual, Fertility & Potency problems
Digestive problems (IBS, constipation, etc.)
Asthma, Eczema & Allergy issues
Mark also has experience dealing with pregnant women, the elderly and cancer patients.

Shiatsu is traditionally received through light, natural-fibred clothes on a floor futon. However Mark works with a portable massage-table, and for those who prefer bodywork with oils, he has adapted the techniques to make this possible. Any particular requirements and health issues will be discussed before the treatment starts. Afterwards Mark may show you certain exercises that will help maintain the benefits of his work.
The first consultation lasts for 90 mins with at least 60 mins bodywork. Follow-up treatments are typically 60 mins long. For chronic problems three sessions in the space of three weeks are advised and other treatments may be recommended.
